If the volunteer doesn't have a special request or capacity to think and animate a special activity, we can propose him some concrete ideas relating to our capacities and resources. These activities will be a good way to keep in touch with this target group, to know them better, to define their own needs. The volunteer can also work in collaboration with our accommodation program in the unities of male, female and couple accommodations giving personal, social support and leisure time occupation for children, youth and adults with a handicap and/or in risk of social exclusion.

EVS in Ungheria su media e comunicazione

YouNet (2010-it-93) as sending organisation is looking for volunteers for the project proposed by the Hungarian hosting organisation Hang-Kép Kulturális Egyesület (2009-HU-1) that will start from the 1st of February for 10 months.

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers

On the one hand the volunteers will actively participate in the trainings of the communication courses that are organised for high school students, university students and other youth workers. Besides these different programs (team building, open speech training, photography courses) the volunteers will be involved in the youth action teams that we are doing together with local youngsters (action teams for communicating different issues to other young people and to the members of the local community with different purposes).
On the other hand the volunteers will be working with the members of the association in making radio, TV programs (making interviews, editing, recording, gathering information, preparation, etc.) and doing short videos on youth activities. They will be involved in the different stages of the work depending on their interests and skills. In order to maintain these activities and develop these skills the volunteers will be helped to learn and to try out in practice all the activities (creation of an image for a TV show, editing radio and TV spots, doing interviews and reports, jingles, making "mock" press conferences etc.). This non-formal learning will enable them to decide which types of activities they would like to be more involved in and also develop new skills when working in teams.

In order to make a good project it is necessary for the volunteers to contact local radio and TV stations (mainly community ones) in the community they live in at their home country. With the help of the volunteers we are planning to make different programs on Debercen and Hajdú-Bihar County. These programs could be broadcasted in the home region of the volunteers. On the other hand we are in good relationship with several community radio stations in Debrecen and some local TV stations in the North-Great Plain region, so we can arrange that introductory programs of the sending regions will be broadcasted in Hungary. This way not only the organisations but the inhabitants of the regions get to know each other. Naturally we are planning to put these programs to our web page as well and to different file sharing engines. The volunteers would be the managers of this exchange of 'image bits'. Please find underneath a proposed schedule for the weekdays of the volunteers:
Monday: Editorial meeting, preparation, gathering information, Trainings/ language shcool
Tuesday: Gathering information, press conferences, consultations, Editing, mixing
Wednesday: Gathering information, interviews, Trainings/ language shcool
Thursday: Editing, mixing,
Friday: Gathering information, interviews, mixing, post-mixing, Action team communication activities with local youngsters.
Of course this schedule can change according to the activities (if there is a shooting at an other city or there are ongoing trainings). At he beginning of each month we are preparing together a plan of activities with proposed deadlines. Every Monday there is a staff meeting where the activities of the week will be jointly discussed.

Volunteer profiles and recruitment process:
The association is searching for young people who are interested in making TV and radio programs, but are open not only for becoming a reporter, but would like to learn the ends and bits of the profession as well (graphic design, photography making, filming, information gathering, news writing and reading, editing, vox-pops, reports, sound recording editing and mixing). The volunteers should actively participate in the trainings of the association not only as students, but also as helpers. The volunteers should be able to work out complex communication programs - on a chosen topic - by the end of the program. It is an advantage if the volunteer has experience in working for a youth or school TV or radio.

Description of the hosting organisation:

Young radio journalists of Debrecen and Hajdú-Bihar County founded the Sound-Picture Association in 2000. The association is training young people to prepare radio programs, TV magazines and short films on intercultural happenings of Europe. These audio and video materials are broadcasted at regional radios and TVs and are uploaded on file sharing engines as well. In the past few years the association has turned towards communication skill trainings as well, where disadvantaged groups of youngsters got the possibility to improve their communication skills in order to find a better job or to address the stakeholders in a more effective way to achieve their goals. Some of the members of the association are still working as journalists, while others chose different jobs, but are still working for the association as volunteers. The organisation is continuously working with local and international volunteers, this way involving more and more local youngsters in the programs. EVS di 6 mesi in Slovacchia

YouNet (2010-it-93) as sending organisation is looking for volunteers for the project proposed by the Slovakian hosting organisation Centrum voľného času (2010-SK-16) that will start from March 2011 and last 6 months. If you are interested be very quick and send your CV and motivation letter immediately to evs@you-net.eu. Bear in mind that the first suitable candidate will get the place so hurry up.

Project environment

The project will take place in the Centre of Leisure Time in Gelnica. Some activities may take place in the local area of the town Gelnica.
The town Gelnica is a small town in the eastern Slovakia. Because of its geography Gelnica is the centre of Hnilec Valley. There are about 6000 inhabitants in Gelnica. There is one primary school, one grammar school and an art school in the town. The centre of the town is formed by few small shops, supermarkets, groceries, basic services and a small Tesco. There is a town hall, the Mining museum, hospital, fire and a police station, catholic, greek-catholic and protestant churches. There are few small evening bars and a disco in Gelnica and in a nearby town.
A beautiful area in the surrounding of Gelnica gives various possibilities for summer and winter sports. We have many tourist and cyclo roads and a natural lake here, too. There are cross-country skiing roads in Gelnica and its surrounding and few skilifts with very good skiing conditions in the area of 30 km around Gelnica. There are ice-hockey and football stadiums, multi-functional and tennis courts, school gyms and a small school swimming pool. There is a railway and bus station, too. The town is situated 45 km from the central city of the eastern Slovakia - Kosice, which offers many other sport, cultural and entertainment possibilities (skilifts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, cinemas, theatres, shopping centres, restaurants, music clubs and discos). The town Gelnica is situated about 400 km from Bratislava - the capital city of Slovakia, 630 km from Prague - Czech Republic, 490 km from Vienna - Austria, 300 km from Budapest - Hungary, 220 km from Krakow - Poland.
A geographical position of the town on the East of Slovakia, Roma social problems and poor economic situation of the town cause an unemployment rate about 20%. Children, the young and the adults have many financial problems, they have very few possibilities to find work, to travel abroad. The majority has an average or under-average standard of living. There is a Roma community in the town, too. Many children have education and behaviour problems, their families live in very poor living conditions.
The Centre of Leisure Time is situated in a very nice old villa almost in the middle of the town. The building of the Centre consists of two bigger rooms for sport and cultural events, as well as for dance clubs, and of four small classrooms where IT clubs, language clubs and environmental clubs work. There is also a self-made fitness room, a large garden with a tennis court, garden chess board, fireplace and few nice places for outdoor activities in the Centre of Leisure Time.
We closely cooperate with the town council, local and regional schools and kindergardens. The Centre of Leisure Time organizes together with the town council of Gelnica public cultural or sport events such as Gelnická desiatka - the cycling competition, Gelnický š¾apajcug - huge touristic day for almost 500 people from the region, St. Nicolas day or Childrens ´ day. We usually help the schools by servicing or organizing sport events (football, volleyball, handball or table tennis matches, swimming or running competitions) and we are responsible for organizing school subject competitions (history, geography, biology, language, singing competitions). Therefore, the volunteer may be helpful on various events taking place not only in the Centre of Leisure Time but also at schools in our region or outdoors in the town, at football stadium or other sport places.

Proposed activities

In terms of learning opportunities we can offer to volunteers free Slovak and German language courses. In the case that a volunteer will be a non IT-skilled person we can offer a free basic IT-course. A whole working time period of a volunteer in the Centre of Leisure Time will be a so called running "Leisure Time Animator course" for the volunteer as he will learn many ways how to spend leisure time with children or the young of any age. A volunteer will also attend On-arrival and Mid-term meetings organized by our National agency. A volunteer will meet another volunteers in Slovakia. He also may meet them in his free time.
The volunteer will be integrated in our internal team of pedagogical workers and he/she will assist us while organizing clubs. He/she may choose among English language, sport or Roma clubs where he/she will organize games, activities. He/she will meet children, communicate with them, prepare materials for them, plan interesting events, competitions for them, too. The volunteer will also assist on our common events or outdoor activities for example balls, children days, bigger sport events and competitions. He/she will help with the presentation of members on our events, giving out food, preparing or copying materials, organizing indoor or outdoor games. The volunteer may organize trips for children to the cimena or to swimming pool, trips to the countryside, cleaning any part of the town, he/she may work on his own small and short-time projects including our children with the aim to motivate them for doing anything meaningful but not staying on the street on their own. The volunteer will also be helpful in the computer class. He can do basic IT work with children like copying, printing, designing our posters and leaflets we often use for propagation of cultural events. In the case he will not be computer skilled he will just supervise children and this will be a possibility for him to learn computers and to use internet also for his private purpose, to communicate with his family, friends and sending organisation. The IT skilled volunteer will help with computers, web-site, IT problems, creating materials for clubs or our activities, all these depending on skills and knowledge of the volunteer.
According to the interests, hobbies and abilities of a volunteer, he/she will be able to create his/her own program. In any case there will be a lot of space for individual creativity and fantasy to develop new projects and find attractive themes regarded to the interests of young people, where the volunteer can perfect themselve. The role of the volunteer should mainly be to offer his/her special skills to children and young people, connected to and co-ordinated with the usual program of the CLT.
Volunteers who will work in Gelnica in the summer period will help during the summer camps. We usually organize on-site summer camps. This means that children stay in the CLT or outside of the town with us daily from 8 a.m. till 16 p.m. only. In the summer time we organize sport days for not-professional players: children, the young and adults. The volunteer may help to organize these events but he may also take part in them as a team player.
On working days the volunteer will have a break or a chance to go for lunch. Our workers get cooked lunch at the nearby grammar school every day except weekends and holidays. EVS in Estonia on media, communication and youth information

YouNet (2010-it-93) as sending organisation is looking for volunteers for the project proposed by the Estonian hosting organisation VitaTeam (2008-EE-20) that will start on the 20-th of February and end on the 20-th of December. If you are interested at this project please send a CV and motivational letter both in english at evs@you-net.eu and katenewyork@gmail.com before the 16th of October.

Project environment:

Narva is the biggest city in Ida-Viru County, has more than 60 000 citizens. The base for the volunteer is Narva city, where VITATEAM has an office (small room in Mainori High School). The office is situated near Russian boarder, and has a very nice view. VITATEAM office is at the same time Info Support Centre, where is possible to get information and help of workers during the day (possibility to use Internet to find information, print needed information or get infobooklets).

Local infrastructure is good. There are buses as well from Narva to other cities in Estonia and Russia as well every day. Most important industries are textile production and electricity industry, and tourism. Near Narva city is Narva-Jõesuu resort town (12 km from Narva city), where is very nice during the summer and very peaceful during the winter. The climate of Narva-Jõesuu is very good for health. VITATEAM activities takes place in different parts of Ida-Viru County. Narva city is a boarder town to Russia (due to geographical situation Narva city is a majority with Russian speaking population (96%) and minority in Estonia).

VITATEAM would like to be more active regarding youth and show all the possibilities that there are today with youth exchanges and discovery of new cultures, and by that also achieve a positive approach among the youth. The volunteer will get the possibilities to learn from a new culture and to get a good insight into a foreign language (Russian and Estonian), a culture democratic system, ways to solve problems, social rights and the public service. And youth will get the possibility to learn a lot from volunteer as well.

We offer:

- the accommodation,

- a possibility to learn Russian and Estonian languages (in practice it is come to use Russian),

- also at the beginning of EVS service we provide info training on being, living and working here (the volunteer will get a good fulfilling introduction including knowledge of the society, culture, history and day to day life in Narva and its surroundings. The first weeks will be focused on those matters and solving practical issues, more than the project work itself)

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:

VITATEAM support always people, and do not forget to support own stuff. There are always possibilities to learn something new at work, and outside in everyday life, and also we are always aware of existing courses and trainings. All EVS project is going to be learning opportunities.

The volunteer will get a chance to know the Ida-Viru County youth work system and a possibility to see different places outside of County as well where we work in cooperation with our partners and different methods that we use.

The volunteer always works together with the members of our staff.

The role of EVS volunteers in the host organisation is to be part of one team in developing strategically directions and implementing activities on local, regional and European level. Especially EVS volunteers are welcome to help us with European activities (international youth and youth workers projects). And also taking care of VITATEAM homepage in a future (in English or volunteer mother tongue).

There is going to be developed individual plan for a volunteer with taking important issues for volunteer. It will Depend on the volunteer skills, interests and wishes, and she or he will be encouraged to build up his/her own typical day. The personal background and skills will be highly welcomed and taken as inputs for new activities in frame of VITATEAM work. Though we are going to offer an alternative schedule for the volunteers if he/she himself finds it more convenient.

The Typical Day of the volunteer:

According to the above written, the activities of the volunteer will be organised during all day. He/she will work not more than 6-7 hours a day and not more than 40 hours per week. If some activities where volunteer is involved will take place during weekends substitute days off will be offered during the weekdays. Since the volunteer has to live and work in Ida-Viru Count, it's important that he/she understands that the schedule can be flexible in case of necessity.

Weekly time table:

Monday: Russian or Estonian language class, Meeting with coordinator, and others volunteers if they are.

Tuesday: Preparing information-sessions/ WEB-update/ Working with VITATEAM- projects

Wednesday: Travel to different places for meetings: Information meetings including volunteer own culture and the Youth programme

Thursday: Follow up from earlier meeting and work at the office

Friday: Working with Youth-projects or personal project, producing information material, update web-site

Weekends are free (if there is no special working activities run by VITATEAM).

But generally VITATEAM has ideas for volunteer:

-the volunteers will inform local youth regarding the volunteers own region, which is probably quite unknown in Ida-Viru County (and we do understand that in the beginning the language will not be the main tool: will be offered to use different tools like painting, and at the beginning we can work with youth at age under 13 years old). This information will be a brief information regarding history and culture with the aim to spread knowledge of the region volunteer comes from and to start a communication and an interest to learn more of the volunteers region. There is going to be info section of volunteer home region in Info Support Centre and homepage.

- working at Info Support Centre from Monday to Friday 10:00 till 18:00 (time can be changed to the moment EVS volunteers come, and it depends on seasons also). And at the beginning we try to give work connected to making designs, posters for events, info leaflets, etc. (where is no need to have very good language skills)

- support youth in their initiatives with international projects and local as well (we have a group of youth who wishes to open youth café in Narva city, for example) or intercultural clubs.

- be actively involved and organise information meetings in schools of Ida-Viru County regarding the Youth Programme. The volunteer will plan information activities with the aim to increase the knowledge and interest among youth in Ida-Viru County (and especially the rural areas of Ida-Viru County). Activities such as collecting material, write an own presentation, as well as take direct contact with the schools will be the volunteers responsibility, of course with assistance from the VITATEAM office.

Volunteer profiles and recruitment process:

As our organisation values creative ideas and initiative from the volunteers the individuals who are self-starters and comfortable working with less structure and supervision are encouraged to apply for our EVS project. Volunteer should be with high self initiative and also with high motivation to learn Russian language. Though we are open to any volunteers who have interest to participate in the project.

The age should be between 18-30 years.

These are proposed activities former volunteers enjoyed participating in them:
• 1 day per week in Radio Kum
Radio Kum is a regional radio with a long lasting tradition. Every Friday afternoon Radio offers two hours of the programme to group of young people to create their own Youth wave (Mladinski val). This programme has also a long tradition, however this year MCT applied Youth Initiative to Youth in Action programme called Youth on the air (Mladi.v.eter) made to completely rejuvenate and to improve this so called Mladinski val. Your job is to join the team to add the European segment and to promote EVS and other possibilities that EU offers young people. Programme will be created entirely by the group of young people and is on the air every Friday at least until the end of the year 2010. Being a part of the team means to prepare the stories, talk about the possible guests, filming the production behind the scene etc.
• 1 day per week movie making
We have a film section working in MCT. There are few young people who are filming short movies and learn how to deal with the camera and everything that goes on while making the movie. The group won the critics award and the people’s award last year on the national festival of the young film creators. The aim is to make a film (50 minutes) with the mentor and the group of young people. They meet at least once per week, sometimes during the weekends. Your job is to join their team and help the mentor to make the movie. He will especially need extra help with editing and filming.
• 1 day per week working on your own project
It is most important for us to encourage all our volunteers to work on their own personal projects. We wish you get to know yourself with the opportunities MCT is offering to young person first and then start developing you own personal project in which ever work field you wish.
• 1 day per week filming in MCT or other locations
MCT is filming most of our programme (concerts, exhibitions, interviews, etc) and is making a short collage of the things we organise every month. We upload this collage to utube, facebook etc. to promote the programme among young people. Your job is to film most of our programme, edit it and make a short collage (introduction or documentary) and upload it to all sorts of media. Also you are expected to make your personal videoblog and post it on our website regularly.
• 1 day per week in MCT klub Sonček (Sonček=Sunshine)
MCT opened its own youth club in February 2009. It is a club with computers, games, internet, drinks, TV etc for young people to enjoy in the afternoons and place where we organise our concerts, film nights, presentations, and exhibitions etc during evenings and on weekends. You are to work in MCT club Sonček as a youth worker to animate youth, teach them some cultural stories and to promote EVS and Youth in Action programme or to help us on the concerts or other activities during weekends.
