EVS project in Poland: Boredom with us will not succeed!

YouNet as a sending organisation is happy to announce that the Centre for Creative Activity is looking for 2 volunteers for the project (2009-PL-75) "Boredom with us will not succeed! international impact for building social activism in Leszno area"

DATES: FEBRUARY 2011 – NOVEMBER 2011 (9 months)

ACTIVITY:

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers

LONG TERM EVS

1) Comprehensive High School No. 2 in Leszno

- The school career centre has been operating for the past four years; 43 weeks a year, 40 hours a week. The centre is a place where students can obtain information and skills needed to find their place in the professional work and learn the "rules" of the job market as well as obtain information concerning the local job market. We actively take part in programmes such as: "E-SZOK," "Graduate," Power of Knowledge," and the "Career Pyramid"

- Two school newspapers: DILL and KILLER

- The school group of Amnesty International which is an international non-governmental organisation which prevents and ends severe abuses of human rights and demands justice for those whose rights have been violated

- The school volunteer program which organises varied help for needy children and teenagers eg. aids learning in a common room, Christmas and Easter presents, costume carnival party for children from poor families.

The role of EVS volunteer will depend on what activities he/she will choose. It can be writing a series of articles in English to our school newspaper about his/her observations of Polish people and culture. In this way we will see ourselves in the eyes of foreigners. There is much to do every year in our school volunteer program so the activities will be varied.

The volunteer could help in designing the educational website for teachers: www.edukontakt.pl as well as in cutting the text in word processors when preparing the school newspaper. Any innovative approach to that activity will be welcomed.

As a native speaker of any particular language he/she could organise discussion clubs and workshops for students of our high school. The area is not as important as the contact with vivid language.

Teachers of history offered for the volunteer a possibility to give a series of lectures about his/her country backgrounds, political system and social current situation of inhabitants.

On the other hand, our school Amnesty International organisation would be interested in a series of lectures about women rights in volunteer's country, their participation in politics and any non-govermental organisations which were founded to protect women rights or in which women are especially involved. The effects of these lectures could be very inspiring for Polish women.

2) Fundacja Centrum Aktywnoœci Twórczej (Centre for Creativity), Eurodesk Leszno

EURODESK INFORMATION POINT

- answering mails, updating website , making databases (for ex: grants, international summer courses etc)

- helping with international events (by selecting proper candidates, writing applications, organising meetings for people who are selected for the events.

- INDIVIDUAL WORSHOPS

This activity depends of a volunteer him/her self. Depending of the wanted activity and the profile of volunteer that we will host, they will have opportunity to develop their own activity by share of his/her own interest (which means that if they are good in theatre they will have chance to organize theatre workshops or if they are good in belly dance, we will start new open for local youth).

WORKING ON A FIELD

In this part we planned to bring volunteers in projects on which we work, like:

- helping with local actions like: helping with studies for youth from Lasocice and Przybyszewo,

- organising free time activities for kids and youth such as concerts.

- promotion of the European integration process ( in a political and social meaning) by developing.

The four main areas, where we plan that the foreign volunteers could involve in are:

- cooperation with European School Clubs (ESC) - informal unions between the students and teachers in different types of schools from the following voivodeships: LUBUSKIE, WIELKOPOLSKIE, DOLNOŒL¥SKIE. The volunteers will travel around those voivodeships to give lectures and make workshops in kindergartens, schools about their own countries (traditions, history, educational system, young people's lifestyles) and the European Union (especially educational programmes for youth). Apart from this the volunteers will help our volunteers to organise European day and European Youth Conference. To show the possibilities in EU for young people.

This part can be flexible, because volunteers will be involved in everything that we will do in a certain moment. If we will organize art festival they will have opportunity to be involved. In periods where field work is not necessary volunteers will have chance to develop their own
